ABM isn't out yet

I'm still getting AudioBook Manager ready for its first public release, so the install steps on this site won't work just yet. Have a look around, and follow along on Discord or GitHub to hear when it lands.

Getting started

Quick start

From a fresh install to your first monitored book.

Not released yetThese install steps start working with the first release.

This is the shortest path from a running container to a book being searched for. Install ABM first: see Install ABM.

The first visit walks you through creating a login. Until you do, ABM refuses requests. How sign-in behaves afterwards is covered in Security and sign-in.

Under Settings > General there is a Proxy section. Set a proxy there if ABM has to go through one to reach the internet. Skip it if ABM can reach the internet directly.

A root folder is where ABM keeps books. Add it under Settings > Media Management in the Root Folders section. It should be the same folder your player (Audiobookshelf, for example) reads.

  • Settings > Indexers: Newznab, Torznab, MyAnonamouse, or Prowlarr. See Indexers.
  • Settings > Download Clients: Deluge, qBittorrent, Transmission, rTorrent, SABnzbd, NZBGet or Blackhole. See Download Clients.

If the client runs in another container, check that it and ABM see the downloads folder at the same path, or add a remote path mapping.

Settings > Profiles holds the quality ladder ABM uses to decide what to grab and what counts as an upgrade. A fresh install has none, so create one. The first profile you make becomes the default, and you can refine it later. See Profiles.

If you have Audible books, connect your account under Settings > Audible. Pick your Marketplace, press Connect Audible Account, then I Understand, Open Amazon Login. Sign in to Amazon in the new tab. The blank or “Page not found” page you land on afterwards is expected. Copy the whole address from the address bar into Redirect URL, add a Display Name if you like and press Complete Login. Your password is never stored, and the first library sync starts straight away. See Audible.

  • Already have a collection? Use Library Import.
  • Starting fresh? Use Library > Add New and search by title, author or series. See Add New.

A book you add is wanted until a file for it is imported. Wanted books appear under Wanted > Missing and are searched automatically.

Activity > Queue shows what is downloading. Activity > History shows what was grabbed and imported. When something goes wrong, Troubleshooting and the Tasks page are the places to look.
