ABM isn't out yet

I'm still getting AudioBook Manager ready for its first public release, so the install steps on this site won't work just yet. Have a look around, and follow along on Discord or GitHub to hear when it lands.

Getting started

Install ABM

One container, three folders, one command. This page is the whole install.

Not released yetThese install steps start working with the first release.

The database is a SQLite file in /config, so there is no database service to set up.

You’ll need:

  • Docker with Compose
  • A folder for your audiobook library
  • The folder your download client puts finished downloads in
  • A folder for ABM’s own data
  1. Make a compose file. Save this as docker-compose.yml:

    services:
    audiobook-manager:
    image: ghcr.io/sunbrolynk/audiobook-manager:latest
    container_name: audiobook-manager
    restart: unless-stopped
    ports:
    - "${PORT:-5173}:5173"
    environment:
    TIMEZONE: ${TIMEZONE:-UTC}
    LOCAL_NETWORKS: ${LOCAL_NETWORKS:-}
    TRUSTED_PROXIES: ${TRUSTED_PROXIES:-}
    volumes:
    - /path/to/library:/audiobooks
    - /path/to/downloads:/downloads
    - /path/to/config:/config
  2. Point it at your folders. Change the left side of each volume to a real folder on your machine. Leave the right side alone.

    Host path Container path What goes there
    /path/to/library /audiobooks Your audiobook library. Required.
    /path/to/downloads /downloads Where your download client puts finished downloads. Required.
    /path/to/config /config The SQLite database, backups, logs, recycle bins and the generated app secret. Keep it.
  3. Start it. Run this from the folder with the compose file:

    Terminal window
    docker compose up -d
  4. Open it. Go to http://your-server:5173. The first visit walks you through setting up a login.

Set your timezone with TIMEZONE in the compose file. Then, in Settings, add a root folder under Media Management, an indexer under Indexers and a download client under Download Clients. Environment variables and reverse proxies are covered in Configuration.

To build the image yourself, clone the repo, swap the image: line for build: . and run:

Terminal window
docker compose up -d --build

Docker is the only way in for now. Native installs are planned, so ABM can run wherever you already self-host:

Platform Planned as
Linux A native package and service
Windows An .exe installer
macOS A native app
Kubernetes A cluster deployment
Unraid A Community Apps template
Proxmox An LXC install script

None of these exist yet. Each will show up on the Updates page when it ships.

Pull the new image and recreate the container. The Updates page lists what changed in each release.

  • The page won’t load. Check the port mapping in your compose file, then run docker logs audiobook-manager.
  • Changes are refused from my domain. ABM refuses changes from an address it isn’t reached at. Make your proxy pass the original Host header first. If that isn’t enough, add your domain to CORS Allowed Domains in Settings > General (an advanced setting, so turn on Show Advanced) and restart ABM. See Troubleshooting.
  • Downloads finish but never import. Check the folder mapping in the tip above.
